Tasmania is known for being laid back in its atmosphere. However, people still have jobs just like anywhere else. Tasmania also has this unshakeable quaint view in the eyes of those living on mainland Australia. This study could help change this view by showing people who live on the island are no different from those in the big cities. In Hobart Tasmania, of the two sexes, who rushes more and at what time of day?

A Review on a Mind Altering Drug: Caffeine

Excerpted from the first paragraph:
When a person wakes up in the morning, they may find themselves still tired and groggy. After doing their usual morning routine of hair, teeth, shower, and dress they still find that they are not as snappy to react as they should be. It is only after their first cup of coffee that they truly wake up and can go about their day. However, it is not so much the coffee that causes them to wake up, as the caffeine content of that drink. Caffeine is a stimulant which increases the alertness of the user (Huffman, 2009, p. 191). In addition, it “particularly has a profound effect on the central nervous system, but it also affects, to a lesser degree the heart muscle” (Dr. Bolton & Null, 1981, p. 203).

The Exploratorium is a “museum of science, art and human perception” located inside the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco California (Exploratorium, 2011). They offer a website for people to explore and expand their memory through memory test games (Exploratorium, 1998). The test is a memory solitaire game where one has to remember a list of items shown. They help a person remember the items, first, by means of telling a story and, second, using placement cues inside an imagined house

Networking: Motivations and Uses of Social Networking Sites

Excerpted from the first paragraph:
Social networking sites are defined by the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication as “web-based services that allow individuals to (1) construct a public or semi-public profile within a bounded system, (2) articulate a list of other users with whom they share a connection, and (3) view and traverse their list of connections and those made by others within the system” (Boyd & Ellison, 2007). Two popular social networking sites which are in high use by the general public today are Google+ and LinkedIn. Google+ is a purely social networking site in the beta stage of development. It is similar to Facebook in that it allows users to connect to each other using streams of text, photos, videos, or sound files. LinkedIn, on the other hand, is a business, or corporate, based social networking site for professionals of all career sorts to connect and share “knowledge, ideas, and opportunities with a broader network of professionals” (LinkedIn, 2010). Essentially, Google+ and LinkedIn are both a new context in which communications are encoded and channeled to audiences of the encoder’s choosing (Huffman, 2009, p. 648).

Excerpted from the first paragraph:
Schizophrenia is a “group of psychotic disorders involving major disturbances in perception, language, thought, emotion, and behavior, the individual withdraws from people and reality, often into a fantasy life of delusions and hallucinations” (Huffman, 2009, p. 517). However, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, DSM-IV-TR, points out that the definition for psychotic has different meanings, “delusions or prominent hallucinations, with the hallucinations occurring in the absence of insight into their pathological nature,” or “prominent hallucinations that the individual realizes are hallucinatory experiences” (American Psychiatric Association, 2000). Schizophrenia is not defined under any single sign or symptom but by the recognition of multiple symptoms, which affect a person’s social and/or occupational life (American Psychiatric Association, 2000).
